Is God That Insecure?

Is God That Insecure?

In the Christian Bible, which is the main extent of my religious past, we are told that God created man from the dust of the earth, and created man in his own image. He noticed man was lonely, so he created woman from the man’s rib. Hence, she is part of being created in God’s image.

We are told very often in the Bible and in Christian churches that we are formed in God’s image. We are reflection of who he is.

Ok. Fine. But let’s continue on with the story, right there in the beginning.

God places his greatest creation, made in his own image, in paradise… Eden. Everything they need is right there… but there are these 2 trees that are off limits. One is the Tree of Life, and the other is the Tree of Knowledge (many refer more formally to the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil – aka, right from wrong. ) “Don’t eat from these trees, or you will die!” he says.

So man and woman decide to do something beyond the rules, and they eat from one of these forbidden trees. Now, stupidly, they eat from the wrong damn tree, as I think if they had eaten from the Tree of Life it may have fucked with God’s death threat a bit…. but that is a different conversation. No, they eat from the Tree of Knowledge.

After eating the fruit from this tree, they were filled with knowledge and their eyes were opened, and for the first time they realized they were naked… and were immediately ashamed!

HOLD UP! DID YOU GET THAT? The idea here is that once man was no longer stupid and had some basic knowledge, he realized that he was naked and immediately had fucking body issues! The body that God himself had created in his OWN image!

Yeah… let that sit with you for a minute.

So this leads me to wonder, again as someone that was raised in and highly dedicated to his Christian faith… Is God really that insecure?

Before you go ranting here…

Yeah, I know there may be a certain group of people that will want to say I am going to a special place in hell for even saying this… but I did warn you not to read this! The trigger warning was specifically for you.

If you have trouble even asking simple questions of your own faith, do you really even have faith? I have never been afraid to ask questions or to be challenged in my own faith as I would certainly know how strong my faith is.

These are but my own thoughts, and comments are welcome, but…

remember, I have a right to my own thoughts and questions, and I did offer a warning before reading this. And I am not telling you what you should believe!!!

I do expect you to be respectful with comments. If you have a point to make, making it respectfully may go a long way to actually making your point! Be disrespectful with your comments and I may well delete your comment, you know… my writing and all.

So with that in mind, I am fine with respectful comments and even opinions from the other side of the fence. Just be forewarned, if you want to debate… again, I may challenge you in ways you will not like.
